A tribute to Scotland’s greatest writers!

Let’s face it, the Writers’ Museum in Edinburgh is just the thing for book lovers and lovers of great Scottish literature! Housed in a magnificent neo-classical building dating from 1898, it houses the works of some of Scotland’s most prolific writers!

The museum’s collections include original manuscripts, letters and books by Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, Robert Louis Stevenson, Robert Service and Lewis Grassic Gibbon, among others. You will find the original versions of Sir Walter Scott’s Waverley, Ivanhoe and Rob Roy… and of course Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Black Arrow.

The icing on the cake: don’t miss the original score of Auld Lang Syne, written by the poet Robert Burns himself: a real historical piece!

The museum also displays correspondence between writers, as well as original letters written by Robert Burns, Robert Louis Stevenson and Geraldine McEwan.

Finally, you should know that the Writers’ Museum also offers a reconstruction of Sir Walter Scott’s dining room… and of a historic printing house. A vibrant tribute to Scottish literary art!
